(Borneo Bulletin, Bandar Seri Begawan, 20th) On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Teng Yun Temple in Brunei was filled with worshippers who came to offer incense and prayers, wishing for a fortunate and auspicious new year. The atmosphere at the scene was thick with festive New Year’s cheer.
At dawn, several lion dance troupes and a dragon dance team came to the temple to perform, leaping and twirling to the lively beat of drums and gongs. Their exquisite techniques won rounds of applause and cheers from the audience, creating a lively atmosphere.
Teng Yun Temple Chairman Lee Yong Zhen, Acting Chairman Cheng Yong Ming, as well as the vice chairman and board members attended enthusiastically, joining worshippers to mark the occasion and exchange New Year’s greetings.
During the event, Chairman Lee Yong Zhen also handed over donations from worshippers to Xu Yue Lan as a fund for Chung Hwa School, supporting its development.
