A 21-year-old woman from West Java, Indonesia, was allegedly sexually abused by her father and two uncles since the age of 13. When the woman mustered up the courage to tell her mother, the mother coldly replied, 'It doesn't matter, as long as you're not pregnant.'
According to Indonesian media reports, Cut Bietty and Jurung Radjagukguk, two representatives from the West Java 'Indonesian Women's Legal Aid Institute for Justice,' stated that the first incident is believed to have happened in 2017, when the victim was only 13 years old.
It is believed that the victim was in a vulnerable situation at that time, as she regularly faced pressure and physical violence at home.
The victim was often beaten by her mother, and one of her uncles, using the pseudonym W, frequently protected her.
However, the care from this elder ended up becoming the beginning of inappropriate behavior towards the victim. In December 2017, after being shown inappropriate content for children, the victim was sexually harassed.
Because she was too young at the time to understand what had happened, the victim did not disclose what occurred. Feelings of fear and helplessness caused the matter to remain hidden for years.
The same incident is said to have happened again in 2019, when the victim experienced sexual violence in her room.
According to the victim's account to the institute, the case also involved two other people—her own father and another uncle, under the pseudonym S.
Over the years, the victim chose to bury her painful experiences, and the prolonged trauma caused her mental state to deteriorate, as she felt there was no safe place to seek help.
After summoning her courage, the victim finally told her mother about the incidents, but received a very disappointing reaction.
At that time, the victim's mother simply said, 'It doesn't matter, as long as you're not pregnant.'
In January 2026, the victim's pain peaked when the same incident happened again. The victim's emotional state continued to worsen, and she even tried to self-harm multiple times.
The team from the West Java 'Indonesian Women's Legal Aid Institute for Justice' then intervened, bringing the victim out of her home to ensure her safety and providing her with psychological counseling.
On July 3, 2026, the institute accompanied the victim to file a police report at the Bekasi Metropolitan Police Department.
In response, Aliyani (AKP), Head of Public Relations at the Bekasi Metropolitan Police Department, stated that the police are currently investigating the report.
