A shooting occurred at the MGM National Harbor Resort in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States, on the 3rd local time, resulting in one death.
The hotel is located about 10 miles (approximately 16 kilometers) from the White House.
Prince George's County police chief Nader stated at a press conference that the shooting happened around noon and the suspect appeared to have a specific target. The suspect entered the hotel's food court, located the victim, and shot at him while he was ordering food. There was no conversation between the suspect and the victim prior to the shooting.
Nader said the shooting resulted in one death, with no other casualties. After the incident, the suspect drove away from the scene, and police are currently searching for him.
According to police, there are numerous surveillance cameras inside the hotel, which will help authorities locate the suspect. Police believe the suspect is a male in his 20s.
The food court at the MGM hotel was closed afterwards, but other areas of the hotel remain open as usual.
