KUCHING: Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak Branch marked a significant milestone with the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Natpro Biotech Sdn Bhd, solidifying a strategic partnership aimed at fostering excellence in biotechnology, natural product development, and community-driven innovation.
Held at the Perpustakaan Tun Abdul Razak, UiTM Samarahan 2 Campus, the ceremony was more than just a formal agreement; it was a celebration of shared vision and mutual commitment to driving impactful change through academia-industry collaboration.
Rector of UiTM Sarawak, Professor Dr Firdaus Abdullah, expressed great pride in partnering with Natpro Biotech, especially as its director, Tuan Syed Mohammad Asri, is a distinguished alumnus of UiTM Sarawak.
“It is always heartening to see our graduates return to give back not just through words of encouragement, but through real partnerships that empower research, innovation, and societal impact,” said Prof Firdaus in his welcoming speech.
“The collaboration encompasses multiple key areas, including joint research and product development, initiatives to enhance graduate employability and provide internship opportunities, the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in UiTM Sarawak, community engagement and outreach projects, as well as knowledge transfer and industry-based innovation all in line with UiTM’s aspiration to be a globally renowned university that drives impactful research, nurtures talent, and contributes meaningfully to national and regional development.”
