On Monday, Iran congratulated Spain on winning the World Cup and said that this victory has brought joy to people around the world who oppose the United States and Israel.
Due to the Spanish government's previous condemnation of Israel's actions in Gaza and criticism of US attacks on Iran, Spain has received the support of Iran.
In contrast, Israeli politicians and fans overwhelmingly supported Argentina, as Argentine President Milei has always been a public supporter of Israeli policies.
Iran's national news agency quoted Iran's chief negotiator Kalibaf as saying: "The players' solidarity with the Palestinian people, as well as Spain's support for Iran...shows that freedom and a firm stance are key traits of this wise and respectable nation."
He added that this victory "not only brought genuine joy to the Spanish people, but also warmed the hearts of many freedom-loving, independent, and justice-seeking nations around the world."
Previously, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Bagheri also said: "The performance of the Spanish national team, as well as Spain's overall stance in recent months in opposing aggression, genocide, and oppression, is truly valuable."
