The China-Thailand Joint Meeting on the Safety and Rights Protection of Chinese Tourists was held in Bangkok on the 22nd. Vanida, Deputy Minister of the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports, stated in an interview with Chinese media that the Thai government attaches great importance to Chinese tourists and has launched a series of safety measures to serve them. She mentioned that multiple surveillance cameras have been installed at major tourist attractions in Thailand, and there are also plans to introduce travel insurance targeting foreign tourists.
Representatives from the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Thailand, the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and other Thai departments attended the meeting to discuss issues related to the safety and legal rights protection of Chinese tourists. Vanida said that there are a total of 79 tourist service centers across Thailand, with services available in Chinese. Tourists in distress in Thailand can also call the 1155 tourist police hotline, which offers Chinese language support, or use the “Tourist Police Thailand” app to report incidents. Representatives from the Tourist Police Bureau, Immigration Bureau, Airports Authority, and other Thai departments expressed that they will strengthen safety guarantees for Chinese tourists and further enhance Thailand’s image as a safe travel destination.
Wu Jian, Minister-Counselor and Consul General of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, expressed hope that the Thai side would further strengthen safety protection, roll out more targeted facilitation measures, and continuously improve the satisfaction of Chinese tourists. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Thai side to further promote Chinese tourists traveling to Thailand. According to data from the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports, as of September 30 this year, more than 3.417 million Chinese travelers have visited Thailand.
