(Tehran, 26th) — Ahavan, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, announced that Iran’s eastern airspace has been reopened, allowing international transit flights as well as domestic and international flights to take off and land from airports in eastern Iran.
According to Mehr News Agency, Ahavan stated in a statement on Wednesday (June 25) that this decision was made by the Military and Civil Coordination Committee of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization and was based on the current situation after a safety assessment.
Ahavan also noted that Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport, Imam Khomeini International Airport, as well as airports in Iran’s northern, southern, and western regions remain suspended for all domestic and international flights, with the reopening time to be announced separately.
Xinhua News Agency also quoted a message released on social media by Kermanpour, Director of Public Relations for Iran’s Ministry of Health, stating that since the 13th, Israeli attacks across Iran have caused 627 deaths and 4,870 injuries.
Kermanpour said that the vast majority of the deceased died at the scene, underscoring the tremendous destruction caused by the attacks.
Since the early hours of the 13th, Israel has launched large-scale airstrikes on multiple locations across Iran. In response, Iran has conducted several rounds of missile and drone attacks on various targets in Israel, with both sides carrying out multiple retaliatory strikes. On the 24th, Iranian President Pezeshkian stated in an open letter to the Iranian people that this 12-day war, initiated by Israel, has come to an end.
