On the 20th, the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission announced that the world’s first methanol-electric multipurpose cargo and container vessel, “Yuanchun 001”, made its maiden voyage at the Luodong Container Terminal of the Port of Shanghai, with a maximum capacity of 64 standard containers.
At the inaugural ceremony, port operator Shanghai International Port Group and the methanol-hydrogen electric system R&D company signed a strategic cooperation agreement on green shipping, marking a major breakthrough in the application of new energy in China’s inland waterway shipping industry and providing a new path for the global shipping industry’s green transition.
“Yuanchun 001” is a multipurpose inland river vessel that integrates liquid new energy power and intelligent control technology. It is 64.9 meters in length, 12.6 meters in width, 3.5 meters in depth, and has a deadweight of 1,500 tons.
