(Bandar Seri Begawan, 20th) — The direct charter flight service between Brunei and Hainan will be re-launched at the end of this year. The charter operator, together with the partner airline 9 Air (AQ), held a launch event yesterday, with Fimei Travel Agency coordinating itinerary arrangements. The travel packages will be sold by multiple travel agencies in Brunei and are also open for agencies in Miri, Limbang, and Labuan to process.
Guests who attended the launch event included: Ms. Lin Zhenli, representative from Fimei Travel Agency; Mr. Yan Mansheng, Executive President of Hainan Hao Hai Tourism Investment Group; Ms. Liu Guoqin, Marketing Manager of Hainan Letong Aviation Services Co. Ltd.; and Mr. Zhang Mian, Vice President of Hainan Hao Hai Tourism Investment Group and General Manager of Hainan Xuhui Travel Agency. The Deputy General Manager, Operations Director, and Marketing Director of Hainan Xuhui Travel Agency were also present. The event also welcomed counterparts from travel agencies and media representatives from Brunei and Malaysia.
The inaugural flight will depart on December 21, 2025, with flight number AQ1221, departing Brunei (BWN) at 2:35 am and expected to arrive in Haikou (HAK) at 5:50 am. The return flight, AQ1219, will depart Haikou that evening at 10:10 pm, arriving in Brunei at 1:35 am the following day.
According to the announcement, the charter service will operate on a bi-weekly rotation schedule: two round trips in one week, and one round trip on alternate weeks. This arrangement seeks to balance market demand and fleet deployment, while maintaining stable capacity during peak tourism seasons. Flight schedules will alternate between midweek and weekends to facilitate travel planning for different types of travelers.
At the launch event, operators introduced several of Hainan’s rapidly developing popular attractions in recent years, including Ocean Flower Island, the rejuvenated Sanya coastal leisure area, Li and Miao Culture Experience Village, and the uniquely designed ‘Cloud Cave Library’. Other premium experiences include a private yacht cruise on Sanya Bay, low-altitude sightseeing by helicopter, and tours of the Atlantis Resort District.
To cater to Muslim travelers, the organizers have specially introduced Muslim-friendly itineraries, providing halal cuisine and visits to local Muslim communities in Sanya and Haikou, allowing guests to experience Hainanese culture in comfort and peace of mind.
Package prices start from BND 899 per person, including hotel accommodation, meals, transfers, attraction tickets, and escorted tours. Tour durations are available in 5 days 3 nights and 6 days 4 nights, ideal for various types of travelers. Ground reception and itinerary arrangements are tightly coordinated by Fimei Travel Agency and its Hainan partners to ensure smooth service.
The charter operator stated that the resumption of this route signals a continued rise in regional tourism demand. Fimei Travel Agency plays a key role in coordinating this initiative and, combined with the support of Hainan partners, is confident that it will further strengthen outbound travel connections from Brunei and neighboring regions (including Sarawak and Labuan).
The public can contact participating travel agencies for further details and to make reservations.
