(Kuala Belait, 31st) During her speech, President Loh Xuexian of the Brunei Chung Cheng Hakka Association expressed her gratitude for the collaborative efforts of the association's council members, as well as for the longstanding support and cooperation from all sectors, which enabled the smooth and successful completion of the ceremony.
She mentioned that this year, the association has acquired two new auspicious lions, and she extended special thanks to Mr. Wong Qi Zhi and community leader Yap Yun Hing for their enthusiastic sponsorship of the new lion costumes and for their continued support for the association's development over the years. She added that their encouragement motivates the association to actively promote the Lunar New Year lion dance activities.
President Loh pointed out that the lion dance is not only a means of preserving traditional culture, but it also helps to deliver New Year greetings and blessings to members and the broader community. At the same time, it serves as a fundraising activity to support the association's operations, member welfare, and annual events.
She also announced that, following the tradition of previous years, the association’s lion dance troupe will conduct New Year visits on the first and second days of the Lunar New Year (February 17th and 18th, 2026). The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the association’s application for the Lunar New Year lion dance fundraising activity, which permits the association to perform lion dance visits to members and community leaders on the first day of the New Year. As for the activities on the second day, it will depend on the start date of Ramadan. If Ramadan begins on February 19th, the related activities can take place continuously for two days.
