(Kuala Belait, 31st) The Brunei Chung Cheng Hakka Association held the Lion Awakening Ceremony for the Year of Bing Wu last night at the Seria New Village Mutual Aid Society Basketball Court, attracting a large crowd of citizens young and old to watch. The scene was bustling with activity and filled with a strong Lunar New Year atmosphere.
The blessing ceremony was presided over by Liu Yongyuan. Afterwards, Permanent Honorary President Chua Chai Yun, Permanent Honorary Advisor Dr. Wen Shaohui, and President Law Suet Sin, together with council members, jointly performed the eye-dotting ceremony for seven auspicious lions, symbolizing favorable weather and prosperity for the association in the new year.
After the ceremony, the auspicious lions immediately presented a "Prosperity Lion Dance" performance. The lion movements were lively and agile, accompanied by the sound of gongs and drums, winning bursts of applause and cheers from the audience.
Meanwhile, as in previous years, the Association will accept bookings from the public to offer New Year greetings to members, clansmen, and devotees from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm on the first and second days of the Lunar New Year (February 17 and 18).
It is reported that the Association has received a reply from the Ministry of Home Affairs approving the application for the fundraising lion dance event for the New Year. On the first day (February 17), the auspicious lion New Year greeting visits to members and clansmen will proceed as scheduled; as for the second day (February 18), whether it continues will depend on the start date of Ramadan. If Ramadan begins on February 19, the Association is permitted to conduct related activities on both days (February 17 and 18).
