The Macau Public Security Police Force recently cracked a bizarre prostitution case. A Thai man in his 20s named Boonchun disguised himself as a woman to solicit clients outside a hotel, collaborating with two Chinese men in their 40s—each responsible for bringing in customers and providing a venue. All three suspects have now been apprehended and the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution Office for investigation.
According to reports from Southern Metropolis Daily and Attitude is Necessary, police stated that on the 18th, they received a tip-off about suspected prostitution solicitation assistance outside a hotel in Cotai. Officers rushed to the scene and immediately intercepted a man surnamed Zhao, who was soliciting clients, as well as a man dressed as a woman.
Upon questioning, Mr. Zhao admitted to assisting the “cross-dressed man” in engaging in sexual transactions. He revealed that he received HK$500 (RM269.3) for each client introduced, and had already earned HK$1,500 (RM808) by the time of his arrest.
Further investigation revealed that the room for the sexual transactions was provided by Zhao’s friend, a man surnamed Wu, who charged RMB300 (RM177) each time. Police determined that the three had clearly defined roles, forming a criminal chain of “posing as a woman to serve clients—Zhao soliciting customers—Wu providing the venue.”
The Macau Public Security Police Force emphasized that Zhao and Wu, the two Chinese men, are suspected of violating Article 8 of Law No. 6/97/M of the Macau Special Administrative Region on “Controlling Prostitution”. The case has been handed over to the Public Prosecution Office for investigation. Boonchun, the man who posed as a woman, is under further investigation by the Immigration Department for engaging in activities inconsistent with his visitor status.
The police urge that any form of prostitution is illegal in Macau, violators will be prosecuted in accordance with the law, and remind tourists not to break the law.
