The Royal Thai Navy has dispatched the aircraft carrier "HTMS Chakri Naruebet" and two helicopters to the flood-stricken areas of southern Thailand, mobilizing forces to rescue trapped flood victims.
According to Thai media "Khaosod", Royal Thai Navy spokesperson Rear Admiral Parra stated on Tuesday (25th) that the Navy has already deployed large warships, helicopters, and special forces to assist residents severely affected by floods in the south of Thailand.
The "HTMS Chakri Naruebet" will set sail from Sattahip Naval Base, accompanied by 2 helicopters, military personnel, medical teams, mobile kitchen teams, rescue equipment, relief supplies, food, and drinking water.
Possessing the capability of an air-sea base, the "HTMS Chakri Naruebet" can support take-off and landing of helicopters and drones, and can also act as a mobile sea kitchen, preparing around 3,000 hot meals daily, which will be air-dropped into the disaster areas.
Additionally, the vessel will carry medical teams and, if necessary, serve as a mobile sea hospital. Should further support be required, the Navy is prepared to dispatch "HTMS Chang" and "HTMS Ang Thong" warships as the second reinforcement team.
Given the urgent need to rescue civilians, the Navy has already sent special operations forces, along with 14 rubber boats and personnel from the Naval Special Warfare Command (NSWC), to fast-current areas to rescue those trapped. They will depart for the southern region today aboard Royal Thai Air Force transport aircraft.
The Royal Thai Navy stated that it will do its utmost to stand with the people during this crisis until the disaster situation is fully alleviated.
