[Southern Thailand Flood] Using Rainwater to Bathe and Flush Toilets; Stranded UUM Student Hopes for Malaysian Embassy Rescue

“We are using rainwater to bathe and flush toilets. As for food, we can only hope for help from the Malaysian Embassy in Thailand. The food aid currently provided is very limited, so we have to share what little we have.”

The flood situation in Hat Yai is severe. A Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) student still stranded in Hat Yai, Mimi Najrah (21 years old), communicated with UUM via WhatsApp, describing the disaster situation on Tuesday.
The photo shows UUM students making the best of things while stranded, waiting for rescue from the authorities.
She reported that water levels had risen to the first floor of her accommodation, and the swift currents made it difficult for rescue boats to reach their location.

She said UUM students and staff stranded locally are in stable condition, but the amount of food available is quite limited. She also urges for more assistance to be provided as soon as possible.

“We hope to receive some help with food supplies from any source.”
