(Kuching, 10th) The Netherlands has expressed willingness to cooperate with Sarawak and share its expertise and experience in the field of port development to help Sarawak advance its port and maritime industries.
According to TVS News, Jacques Jaap Werner, the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Malaysia, stated that Sarawak has a clear overall plan and vision in port development, which has attracted the attention of many Dutch companies interested in participating in Sarawak’s continuously developing maritime industry.
“Several companies from the Netherlands have the potential to assist Sarawak in developing its port and maritime systems.”
He made these remarks after paying a courtesy call on Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, yesterday.
Jacques pointed out that the scope of cooperation between both sides could encompass areas such as port planning, innovative technologies, and the use of advanced software in port management systems.
“We are very excited about Sarawak’s long-term vision in port development, and the Netherlands is always ready to cooperate and work together to achieve this goal,” he said.
He added that should formal cooperation begin, Dutch companies would also be pleased to share their vast experience and best practice models with local Sarawak industry players.
“The Netherlands is very willing to share our achievements and expertise in the development of modern port systems,” he said.
He revealed that at present, there are already 10 port-related Dutch companies expressing interest in exploring cooperation opportunities with Sarawak in the field of ports and maritime affairs.
