(Miri, 6th) In preparation for the upcoming Sarawak Day 2025 celebration in Miri, the organizing committee held its first meeting on Thursday (June 5th) at the Miri District Office to further refine the preparation work, ensuring the smooth running of the celebration. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Transport of Sarawak, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, who is the person in charge of this celebration.
This three-day celebration will grandly take place from July 20th to 22nd in Miri. Various groups also reported on the progress of key activities and major programs during the meeting.
Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin emphasized during the meeting that each group needs to discuss the details further in the next phase and must submit the latest progress report at the next committee meeting on June 20th. He specifically pointed out that safety measures, event management, promotion, and community engagement are the key aspects of this year's preparation work.
He stated that this year's Sarawak Day celebration will encourage broader public participation to ensure the event reflects the vision of “Sarawak Maju Makmur” (Prosperous Sarawak) and the development concepts of unity, diversity, and inclusiveness.
A series of diversified exciting activities will be held during the celebration, including the Sales and Sarawak Talent Carnival, Fitness Zumba activities, interfaith gratitude prayer ceremonies, unity walks, and dialogues with Sarawak leaders.
The highlight will be the official Sarawak Day celebration ceremony held at the Miri Stadium on July 22nd. Sarawak's Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, and Sarawak's Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari will officiate the event.
Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin called on the citizens of Miri and surrounding areas to actively participate and join the grand occasion, showcasing the unity and spirit of the people during the Sarawak Day celebration.
Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development of Sarawak, Dr. Annuar Rapaee, Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development of Sarawak, Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Deputy Resident of Miri, Buchang Lauman, District Officer of Miri, Siti Rohani Yusuf, and representatives from various government departments and agencies attended.
