(Miri, 22nd) Three abandoned cars caught fire last night within the premises of a repair shop on Jiedao Road in the Dong Lin Valley Industrial Area, Miri. Fortunately, no one was injured.
After receiving the report, the Miri Lopeng Fire and Rescue Department rushed to the scene and successfully extinguished the fire in a short period of time, preventing further losses.
According to an incident report issued by the Zone Six Lopeng Fire and Rescue Department of Sarawak, the incident occurred at 9:50 PM yesterday. Members of the public reported a fire at a repair shop on Jiedao Road via the hotline.
Upon receiving the report, the fire department immediately dispatched two fire trucks and six firefighters to the scene, which was about 7 kilometers away. The team arrived at 9:57 PM and found three abandoned cars fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading rapidly.
Commander PBK II Mohammad Fairus Apit immediately directed his team to carry out firefighting operations, using a fire hose and water from the onboard water tank to extinguish the fire. By 10:00 PM, the fire was under control, and it was completely put out by 10:10 PM. After ensuring the safety of the site, the operation officially ended at 10:11 PM.
The fire did not cause any casualties and did not involve other buildings or facilities. The fire department did not use any special equipment during the operation, nor did other related agencies respond. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still under further investigation and confirmation.
The Lopeng Fire and Rescue Department urges the public to properly dispose of abandoned vehicles and flammable materials to prevent similar incidents and reminds citizens to contact the fire department immediately if any suspicious situations are discovered, in order to safeguard the safety of lives and property in the community.
