(Bandar Seri Begawan, 28th) His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei received Kaja Kallas, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, who is on a two-day visit to Brunei.
The audience ceremony was held at Istana Nurul Iman.
This is her first visit to Brunei, and she is attending the 25th ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting hosted by Brunei.
Brunei is the ASEAN-EU Dialogue Coordinator for 2024 to 2027. The meeting will discuss measures to advance the strategic partnership between ASEAN and the EU in priority areas, and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Brunei and the EU have established close working relations through various multilateral platforms, including the ASEAN Regional Forum and the Asia-Europe Meeting, and have carried out good cooperation in the fields of trade, investment and security.
Present at the audience were: Denis Chaibi, the non-resident Ambassador of the EU to Brunei; Michal Safianik, member of the Office of the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.
Also present were Second Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato Erywan and Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office Dato Mohd Riza.
