Last Public Appearance Before Passing: Leaning on a Cane to Bid Farewell to a Deceased Friend

The news of Shi Nansheng's passing has shocked the film industry. As the sad news spread, her final days battling illness also came to light. Always known for her deep sense of loyalty, Shi's last public appearance in life was when she attended the farewell ceremony of her late friend, veteran producer Gu Weili, in May. At that time, Shi Nansheng was already suffering badly from an autoimmune disease; she was emaciated, pale-faced, moving with difficulty, and relied on a cane to get around, with others supporting her throughout the event. Despite her extremely frail condition, she insisted on enduring the pain to personally bid her dear friend farewell, displaying a moving chivalry and loyalty worthy of being called the "last heroine."

Before her illness worsened, Shi Nansheng gave an in-depth interview at the beginning of the year on senior filmmaker Man Jun's YouTube show, which aired in March. This became her last detailed interview during her lifetime. At that time, she was still in good spirits, her figure fuller compared to May, and she spoke clearly in front of the camera about the golden age of Hong Kong cinema.

Notably, in this interview, Shi Nansheng rarely revealed her new luxury residence near MacDonnell Road, Mid-Levels. She disclosed that while she was very attached to her old home and never intended to move, she had to relocate to the new Mid-Levels apartment because her original residence was slated for redevelopment. Unexpectedly, this new home, which she moved into due to circumstances, ended up being the place where she spent the last days of her life.
