(Kabong, 10th) A 38-year-old man, dissatisfied with the distribution of his parents' house rental income, lost control of his emotions last Friday in Kampung Kabong, threatening his stepfather with a knife and wooden stick and attempting to attack him.
Saratok District Police Station Chief, Deputy Inspector Matthew Manggie, stated that the suspect, after losing control, threatened the safety of the 63-year-old complainant and his wife, forcing them to flee their home.
“When the complainant returned home with his grandson to retrieve some items, the suspect acted aggressively, picking up a long wooden stick in an attempt to hit the complainant,” he said in a statement.
On the day of the incident, a team of officers from the Saratok Police Station led by Inspector Hendry arrested the suspect in front of the house.
Guided by the suspect, police recovered a 30-cm meat cleaver and a 122-cm wooden stick, believed to be the tools used in the attack.
Matthew pointed out that the suspect admitted to consuming 'Langkau' spirits at the time of the incident, and claimed his actions were due to dissatisfaction with the distribution of the house rental income.

“The suspect also admitted to having made death threats to his sister and had attempted to attack his stepfather when the complainant came back to retrieve items,” he said.
Investigation revealed that the suspect had only been released from Sri Aman Central Prison on May 30 this year and is still under conditional release (Orang Bebas Berlesen), valid until December 18, 2025.
The suspect is unemployed and has repeatedly been involved in drug and alcohol abuse, with seven prior convictions, including offenses under the Penal Code, Dangerous Drugs Act, and ARJT-related cases.
This case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code (Criminal Intimidation).
