Close cooperation, in-depth discussions and continued engagement with full trust between the leaders of Malaysia and Singapore are essential for shared prosperity,

He said Malaysia and Singapore are not merely friendly nations, but close neighbours who are like family, interdependent and supportive of one another through the close diplomatic relations established for the past six decades.

"Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and I are proud of every achievement that we have built together.

"Hopefully, this momentum continues to strengthen Malaysia-Singapore relations, paving the way for more collaboration for the benefit of the people of both countries,” Anwar posted on Facebook today.

Yesterday, Anwar made a one-day working visit to Singapore to attend the 12th Malaysia-Singapore Leaders’ Retreat.

The Annual Leaders’ Retreat is hosted alternately by Malaysia and Singapore. It serves as the highest-level mechanism for reviewing the progress of bilateral cooperation, discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern, and exploring new opportunities to further strengthen the bilateral partnership between both nations.

Singapore remains Malaysia’s second-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade amounting to US$78.70 billion (RM339.39 billion) from January to October 2025, representing 13.5 per cent of Malaysia’s total trade.

This year also marks 60 years of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Singapore.
