(Miri, 8th) – Ten Lions Clubs from Sub-District 9 and Sub-District 10 in Region 4, District 308A2 of Lions Clubs International will jointly organize the 2026-2027 Peace Poster Contest under the theme "Kindness Matters," and will soon visit schools to encourage students to participate.
Chee Chiu Yen, First Vice President of Miri Wen Hua Lions Club and the event’s organizing chairperson, stated that this activity is being fully supported by all ten participating clubs. Each club will work as a team by visiting their assigned schools to distribute drawing paper and application forms, as well as to provide explanation, hoping for enthusiastic participation from students.
"Starting immediately, members of the organizing committees from each Lions Club will visit the respective schools to deliver drawing paper and forms. The competition deadline is September 11th, after which the judging process will begin upon the collection of artworks."
She said this event is one of the Lions Clubs’ annual projects, aiming to encourage students to express their visions of peace through painting and to promote the spirit of compassion and friendship through their creations.
"All entries will be judged by a panel following the deadline, and winners will be invited to attend the regional award ceremony in Miri in September."
She pointed out that participants must be between the ages of 11 and 13 as of November 15 this year. Eligible birth dates are from November 16, 2012, to November 15, 2015.
Each student is limited to submitting one original work. Plagiarism or copying is strictly prohibited. The artwork must fully express the theme through visual elements and should not rely on written explanations, otherwise the entry will be disqualified.
She emphasized that, to comply with the judging standards of Lions Clubs International’s Peace Poster Contest, the front of the artwork must not contain any numbers, letters, or textual elements (including names, dates, slogans, or years, etc.)—the artwork must present the theme purely through visual imagery. Personal information and signatures should be written on the back of the drawing paper. Any occurrence of text or numbers on the front will lead to immediate disqualification.
There will be cash prizes for the contest: the champion will receive RM150, the first runner-up RM100, the second runner-up RM70, and seven consolation prizes of RM50 each.
She added that the ten outstanding works selected by the judging panel will proceed to the area-level selection. All winners will receive certificates and cash prizes from the Lions Clubs as encouragement.

This global competition, established in 1988, has entered its 38th edition, attracting participation from about 100 countries and regions, with around four million students aged 11 to 13 each year.
Entries must pass through several levels of judgment at the local, area, and international levels. The winning works will represent the ten participating Miri Lions Clubs in the Lions Clubs International District 308A2 contest and may have a chance to advance to the World Peace Poster Global Contest.
The ten co-organizing Lions Clubs include: Miri Lions Club, Miri Wen Hua Lions Club, Marudi Wen Hua Lions Club, Miri Central Lions Club, Stone Hill Lions Club, Lu Dong Lions Club, Lambir Lions Club, Miri Century Lions Club, New Century Travel City Lions Club, and Miri North City Lions Club.
