Youth Uphold ZEAL Spirit – Lee Kim Shin Urges Youth to Unite and Contribute to Society

(Miri, 8th) Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin stated that youth are Sarawak’s most valuable asset, and the state’s future development ultimately depends on the quality and sense of responsibility of the younger generation. Therefore, youth should not only pursue academic and career success but also focus on character building and the establishment of values.

He made these remarks in his speech at the “2026 BEM Youth Explosion (BEM—Youth Explosion 2026)” event held last night at Miri Overseas Tian Restaurant.

He said that the theme of tonight’s event, “ZEAL,” symbolizes passion, perseverance, and wholehearted dedication, and that any success begins with the right attitude and firm belief. Whether in academics, career, family, sports, business, or community service, those who possess enthusiasm, discipline, and integrity are all capable of achieving excellence.

He pointed out that the event successfully attracted over a thousand youths from various churches in Miri, showing that local youth are still full of positive spirit, willing to learn and grow, and are becoming a driving force for social progress.

Lee Kim Shin emphasized that Sarawak society is diverse, composed of different races, religions, and cultures, yet people have long coexisted harmoniously—this is a valuable asset that must be cherished and continued.

“The younger generation shoulders the responsibility of continuing this spirit of unity and should learn to respect, understand, and cooperate with one another, rejecting all forms of extremism and divisive behavior.”

He pointed out that events like “Youth Explosion” are not only annual gatherings, but also important platforms to cultivate leadership, build friendships, inspire volunteerism, and shape good character, enabling youth to gain inspiration and broaden their life direction.

He encouraged youth to bravely pursue their dreams, dare to try, not fear failure, and to give back to society when they achieve success in the future, becoming a generation that brings a positive impact to their families, society, and Sarawak.

He also called on participants to treasure the opportunity, actively learn, make new friends, and bring the “ZEAL” spirit they experience at the event back to their schools, universities, workplaces, families, and communities, continuing to spread positive energy.
