(Batu, 17th) After Batu Division Chief Ahi Ali resigned from all party positions and left the party, the leadership of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in the Federal Territories and the Batu Division has begun to take steps to stabilize the division.
Members of the PKR Federal Territories and Batu Division Committees issued a statement emphasizing that despite the leadership change, the party’s operations will continue as usual.
The PKR Federal Territories Chairman Datuk Azman said the party respects Ahi Ali’s decision, including stepping down as Batu Division Chief and Federal Territories PKR Youth Chief.
“Leadership changes are a normal process in any democratic party; PKR will continue to move forward according to its reform agenda and collective struggle.
Azman stated that he has already discussed with the Batu Division leadership to ensure that party administration and grassroots activities can continue without disruption.
Meanwhile, members of the Batu Division Committee reiterated their support for PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar and the leadership of Azman in the Federal Territories.
They said Ahi Ali’s resignation was his personal decision and does not represent the overall stance of the division.
The division is currently temporarily led by the acting deputy chief, and divisional activities will proceed as usual to ensure the party machinery remains strong and focused on defending the Batu parliamentary seat.
On the other hand, PKR division issues have also occurred in other regions. At the Kuala Selangor Division Conference (May 16, Saturday) in Selangor, an altercation broke out after the meeting over a motion of no confidence against the division chief, resulting in a physical confrontation.
The clash occurred about 20 minutes after the meeting ended, when a group of people returned to the venue to question why the no-confidence motion was not allowed to be debated or voted on.
Division leaders stated that the motion has been accepted, but informed the proposer that it must be submitted to the central leadership for a decision.
