Sexual Harassment Controversy Leads to Boycott? Chen Sheng's Solo Exhibition Abruptly Canceled

Published at Feb 09, 2026 05:22 pm
Singer Chen Sheng was originally scheduled to hold an exhibition event titled "I Am a Rock Painter: 2026 Chen Sheng Solo Exhibition" at the Tainan Art Museum (TAM) starting on the 7th. However, two days before the exhibition opened, it was announced to be postponed. On the 9th, TAM issued an official statement saying that the exhibition was canceled due to Chen Sheng's team proposing to withdraw from the collaboration.

As early as July 2023, Chen Sheng was embroiled in a sexual harassment controversy, and in November of the same year, he apologized at an album press conference. However, the controversy remained fresh in the public's mind. He was set to collaborate with TAM on a solo exhibition, and two days before the opening, the museum announced a postponement, citing "the museum's exhibition review process was not completed before the opening, so we have reluctantly decided to postpone the exhibition." Although some fans expressed excitement, others questioned, "Apart from Chen Sheng, really, is there no other choice?" and "So organizing an exhibition for sexual harassment perpetrator Chen Sheng is what's meant by 'steadily grasping TAM's self-positioning and a new relationship with its citizens and audience?'"

According to TAM's official announcement on the 9th, the statement made it clear: "In view of Chen Sheng's team expressing intention to cancel the collaboration, our museum respects the overall considerations of the creative team and, in accordance with our exhibition review and schedule management procedures, has decided to cancel this exhibition and related planned activities." Some lamented the decision as "a pity," while others commented, "Glad to see it."
