Sultan Sharafuddin of Selangor warned Muslims not to deceive their fellow believers by profiting through offering fake pilgrimage packages.
His Highness said that the government should take such cases seriously, and reminded that Islam prohibits its followers from cheating, and those who commit such sins will be punished by Allah.
His Highness advised the public to use the facilities provided by the Pilgrimage Fund Board and to avoid services from organizations with unclear backgrounds to prevent fraud, which could hinder pilgrims' pilgrimage aspirations.
“I hope that in the future, there will be no more incidents of pilgrims being scammed by unauthorized agents.”
His Highness made these remarks during the closing ceremony of the Selangor Hajj Course (Kursus Perdana Haji) today.
Sultan Sharafuddin reminded Selangor pilgrims to focus on pilgrimage activities and avoid participating in any protests or demonstrations, while complying with the instructions of local Pilgrimage Fund Board staff and the Saudi Arabian authorities.
“As I understand, Malaysian pilgrims, including those from Selangor, have adhered to discipline and complied with the regulations set by the Saudi Arabian government.”
“I hope that all of you ladies and gentlemen will continue to maintain discipline and uphold the good reputation of Selangor and Malaysia while in the holy land.”
His Highness also urged pilgrims to pay attention to their health, as the pilgrimage involves a lot of physical activity, and to seek immediate treatment if they are unwell to prevent any disruptions to their pilgrimage journey.
At the ceremony, His Highness also presented pilgrimage equipment as souvenirs to representatives from various districts in Selangor.
