Director of the White House National Economic Council, Hassett, stated on the 10th that the United States is considering tariff agreement proposals from 15 countries and is close to reaching agreements with some of them.
He told reporters at the White House, “The United States Trade Representative Office (USTR) informs us that there are currently around 15 countries with clear proposals which we are studying and considering to decide if these proposals are good enough to be submitted to the President (Trump).”
He noted that the main leaders responsible for government trade policy would meet at the White House later that day, “to ensure that the countries critical to reaching final agreements are those we consider first.”
He stated that trade agreements are expected to make significant progress within the next 3 to 4 weeks.
He said, “This is a very, very fast process, not something that started today or yesterday. It began a long time ago.”
