61-year-old Hong Kong 'Rock Godfather' David Wong passed away in Hawaii, USA, earlier this month. After the news broke, it sparked a public spat between his manager-girlfriend Vicky and David Wong's sister, causing much speculation about the underlying issues. Unexpectedly, recent reports suggest that in fact, David Wong had already broken up with Vicky before moving back to Hawaii, and Vicky allegedly tried to change the royalty account into her own name without authorization, which became the trigger for their official breakup.
According to Mirror Media, recent sources reveal that Vicky had long managed David Wong's finances, with a dedicated bank account set up for this purpose. However, last year Vicky allegedly attempted to transfer the account receiving David Wong's royalties into her own name without his prior consent. On top of existing tensions, this ultimately led to the breakup.
Responding to this, Vicky has clarified that the allegation about the royalties is false. She emphasized that David Wong himself personally signed the copyright licensing agreement with the record company and renewed it early last year. She pointed out that even if there was business cooperation with other companies three years ago, this would not affect the management of the music copyrights. She further stated, 'If anyone spreads rumors that I wanted to profit from or seize any of David Wong's copyrights, then they simply do not understand the legal regulations and common sense regarding the moral and property rights of authors!'#
