In the latest episode of the talk show "The Do Show," host "Do姐" Dodo Cheng invited Carina Lau as a guest. Right at the start of the program, the two discussed the origin of their acquaintance. Carina Lau laughed and said that once she agreed to Do姐's invitation, she would never go back on her word, because to her "commitment is extremely important."
Talking about their first impressions of each other, Carina Lau recalled their past when filming the drama "The Unyielding Master." Do姐 candidly admitted that back then, Carina Lau, who had just entered the industry, was inseparable from Sandra Ng and Margie Tsang, giving off the vibe of a lively younger sister; but today, Carina Lau has transformed into a woman with "a commanding presence." In response, Carina Lau felt this was the serenity and ease that came after years of experience—only by seeing through the ups and downs of life can she now exude such a calm yet powerful aura.
During the show, the two also took the initiative to talk about the long-circulating "slap rumor." Years ago, rumors had it that during the filming of "The Unyielding Master," Do姐 was cold toward Carina Lau because she was unhappy about her tardiness. Through repeated telling, the rumor escalated into "Do姐 slapping Carina Lau," an exaggerated version. On the program, Do姐 said she had seen such reports, and exclaimed, "The reports say I slapped you!" Carina Lau immediately clarified, emphasizing that the slapping incident was not true, and Do姐 had never scolded her at the time.
However, Carina Lau admitted that a remark from Do姐 back then was a real "wake-up call" for her. She recalled that at the time, her attitude was rather lax, and her Cantonese was not fluent enough. When rehearsing a particularly challenging scene, she just couldn't remember her lines. Do姐, who was at the height of her career, gravely asked her, "Carina Lau, do you even know what this scene is about?" This question made Carina Lau feel deeply ashamed, but it also inspired her professional dedication. To this day, she still remembers this lesson and often uses it to encourage her juniors. #
