U.S. Secretary of State Rubio has just concluded his visit to Italy and the Vatican. In an interview on the 8th, he stated that during U.S. President Trump's visit to Beijing next week and his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, it is very likely that the Taiwan issue will be discussed.
When asked by reporters earlier about the Taiwan issue, Rubio emphasized that U.S. policy remains unchanged, saying "We do not want to see any changes in the situation that are forced or coerced," as such changes would cause instability in the entire world.
Rubio also said that he does not believe the Taiwan issue will be the main focus of the 'Trump-Xi summit,' but it will certainly be mentioned. He added that stability in the Taiwan Strait is beneficial for the United States, Mainland China, and the whole world.
Trump is expected to visit Beijing to meet with Xi Jinping from May 14 to 15, marking the first visit by a U.S. president to China in nearly ten years.
