KUCHING: The Bicara Ummah Darul Hana 2025, held in conjunction with the state-level Maulidur Rasul celebration and the 70th anniversary of the Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS), took place at Masjid Jamek Negeri Sarawak last night (Sept 18).
Themed ‘Ummah Maju Makmur’, the forum was attended by Energy and Environmental Sustainability Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, who represented Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
It was also organised to fulfil the aspirations of the late Datuk Amar Puan Sri Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, wife of the Premier, which could not be realised during her lifetime.
Also present were MIS president Datuk Misnu Taha, Sarawak Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) chief executive officer Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai, and chief syariah judge Datuk Awang Suhaili Ledi.
The programme focused on strengthening Islamic understanding, addressing contemporary issues, and fostering unity through shared values.
The session was moderated by Darul Hana Quranic Centre–MIS chief executive officer Shahudddin Marzuki and featured three panelists: Sarawak Mufti Datuk Kipli Yassin, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Professor Datuk Dr Mohd Izhar Ariff Mohd Kashim, and certified preacher Dr Robiah H. Hamzah.
Earlier, the event began with Maghrib congregational prayer, followed by Surah Yasin recitation, ‘tahlil’ and ‘doa arwah’, before continuing with the discussion and ending with Isyak congregational prayer.
