President Tharman Dissolves Parliament, Nomination for Singapore General Election on April 23

(Singapore, 15th) President Tharman announced the dissolution of Parliament at 3 PM today on the recommendation of Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, officially initiating the 2025 general election.

According to the electronic version of the Government Gazette, Parliament has been officially dissolved. As per procedure, the President issued the writ of election on the same day, and the Elections Department will subsequently announce details such as the nomination and polling dates.

The President's Office also announced today that the nomination day for the 2025 general election is set for April 23 (Wednesday). This election will have nine nomination centers, namely: Mee Toh School, Chongfu School, Deyi Secondary School, Jurong Pioneer Junior College, Guanghua School, Methodist Girls' School, Nan Hua High School, Pei Chun Public School, and Yusof Ishak Secondary School.

Each nomination center will handle nomination applications for 2 to 4 constituencies.

Based on past election timelines, this year's polling day is highly likely to fall on May 3 (Saturday).
