During his visit to China, Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong reached four cooperation consensuses with China. These include a letter of intent for third-country collaborative training, to provide green development-related training for ASEAN member states and Timor-Leste.
According to Lianhe Zaobao, officials from Singapore and China, witnessed by Lawrence Wong and Chinese Premier Li Qiang on the 23rd, signed memorandums of understanding and letters of intent at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Apart from conducting training for third countries, the two nations also plan to strengthen intellectual property data sharing, explore the establishment of a high-level official exchange mechanism, and conduct training for legal professionals.
The letter of intent for third-country training cooperation was jointly signed by Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and China's International Development Cooperation Agency. The two countries plan to provide training for officials from ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste.
Singapore has long been actively promoting regional green transformation and the development of the ASEAN power grid, so the training will focus on clean energy transition, sustainable city construction, climate resilience, and supporting the development of the ASEAN power grid. This cooperation aims to strengthen regional sustainability and resilience, enhance the region's overall ability to cope with common challenges, and unlock long-term development potential.
