(City, 20th) A man broke into his grandfather's garden shed with an accomplice to steal tools and was sentenced to six months in jail by the Magistrates Court on Monday.
The court was informed that 33-year-old Jule Shan and 28-year-old Luo Zai, both unemployed, admitted to the theft committed on May 9 in Bukit Sibut, Dondong District.
The court learned that Jule Shan and Luo Zai targeted Jule Shan's grandfather's garden shed.
Jule Shan used tires to climb over the locked gate into the yard, while Luo Zai kept watch outside. Jule Shan took a yellow plastic basket, a metal cutting machine, and a pipe cutter, placed them into a green recycling bag, and handed it to Luo Zai. The two then hid the bag in nearby bushes.
The next day, the victim went to the garden shed and discovered the missing items and subsequently the theft. Following a report from a cousin, the victim found the stolen items in nearby bushes and reported to the police.
The two were quickly arrested and confessed to the theft during the police investigation. They both have prior criminal records.
