The family holding company of U.S. President Trump plans to construct a skyscraper in the southern Vietnamese city of Ho Chi Minh City, and Trump's second son, Eric, is expected to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday.
A press release from the Ho Chi Minh City government noted that on Monday, city government officials, along with representatives from the Trump Organization and its Vietnamese partner, the real estate developer KinhBac City (KBC), visited two potential sites in the eastern part of the city for the future Trump Tower.
The city government also stated that they plan to hold further discussions with Trump Organization executives on Thursday.
According to Vietnamese state media outlet Youth Daily, the U.S. delegation led by Eric will conduct a field survey.
The report says that on Wednesday, Eric will first attend the groundbreaking ceremony for a $1.5 billion luxury resort complex in northern Vietnam, which is supported by the Trump Organization and KBC.
Additionally, AFP pointed out that the visit comes amid intense negotiations between Vietnam and the United States. Under the 'reciprocal tariffs' measures announced by Trump, the U.S. is imposing tariffs of up to 46% on Vietnam.
Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, has a population of over 8 million and is the economic heart of Vietnam.
