(Bandar Seri Begawan, 6th) The Brunei Ministry of Labour’s enforcement division conducted an operation in Kampong Salar on February 24th, uncovering six violations of the Employment Order (Chapter 278).

This operation, codenamed “Operation Usai 38/2026” (Operasi Usai 38/2026), aims to ensure that employers comply with national labour laws and related regulations.

During inspection of a rented workers’ hostel, enforcement personnel discovered several suspected violations by employers, including requiring employees to work on rest days, not granting statutory public holidays, and not providing paid annual leave.

In addition, investigations revealed a company was employing foreign workers under the guarantee of another catering company without the necessary permits, but arranged for them to work at its own company, allegedly violating relevant labour regulations.

The Ministry of Labour stated that the authorities will continue to carry out enforcement actions to ensure employer compliance with labour laws and to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of employees.
