(Bandar Seri Begawan, 6th) The Norwegian cruise ship 'Norwegian Sun' set sail from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on the 4th of this month, and subsequently arrived at Brunei's Muara Port, bringing a group of international cruise travelers to the area.

After the cruise docked, passengers were warmly welcomed by dancers in traditional Malay costumes as they disembarked. The travelers then embarked on half-day and one-day sightseeing tours, exploring Brunei’s natural scenery and cultural landmarks, experiencing the unique cultural charm and warm hospitality of the “Abode of Peace.”

On the day, Brunei TravelHub travel agency mobilized several guides and interpreters, and arranged multiple buses to provide reception and sightseeing services for the cruise guests, ensuring a smooth journey. The Brunei Tourism Development Department, TravelHub agency, and Muara Port staff also made meticulous arrangements for the visit, striving to provide visitors with efficient and high-quality services.

It is reported that the travelers came from countries including the Philippines, the United States, Australia, Canada, and more, with most visiting Brunei for the first time.

During their stay, the tourists visited a number of iconic landmarks and tourist attractions, including the exterior of Istana Nurul Iman, the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, the Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, the Jerudong Royal Polo Club, the Jerudong Crystal Arcade Park, and the Sultan’s Golden Jubilee Recreational Park.

In addition, travelers also took boat rides along the Brunei River, observing rare proboscis monkeys up close, and admiring the beauty of the tropical rainforest’s ecology and natural landscapes. The itinerary also included visits to Kampong Ayer, where they learned about the lifestyle of the local water village residents and tasted local specialty cakes.

After their Brunei tour, the Norwegian cruise ship 'Norwegian Sun' will continue its journey to Vietnam, leading passengers to experience the diverse cultures and picturesque seascapes along the Southeast Asia to South China route.

The Brunei Tourism Development Department stated that in 2025, Brunei will host a total of 28,776 cruise passengers, with 11 cruise ships scheduled to visit, marking a significant increase compared to 17,860 passengers in 2024.

The department pointed out that, based on the momentum gained in 2025, Brunei is full of confidence for the outlook of cruise tourism in 2026, expecting a total of 24 cruise ship visits for the whole year. At the same time, almost all of the feedback received during the 2025 cruise season from travelers was positive.
