China’s Ministry of Public Security stated on the 9th that public security agencies in Shandong and Guangxi, following the ministry's unified deployment, mobilized police forces to escort more than 1,500 criminal suspects recently arrested in the 'China-Myanmar-Thailand Joint Operation to Clear Out Gambling and Fraud Parks in Myawaddy, Myanmar' back to China. In addition, all of the more than 630 related buildings in the Myawaddy KK Park have been completely demolished.
The Ministry also said that all suspects involved in telecom fraud crimes have been escorted back to China, and the joint clearance operation has 'achieved phased success.'
The ministry stated that for a long time, the Myawaddy region of Myanmar has been occupied by many gambling and fraud criminal organizations, who have been carrying out large-scale telecom and online fraud and other criminal activities, causing severe harm. At the beginning of 2025, China, Myanmar, and Thailand established a coordinated ministerial-level mechanism to jointly crack down on telecom network fraud crimes, and have been continuously conducting multiple rounds of enforcement actions.
The Ministry of Public Security mentioned that this year, working groups sent by the ministry to Myanmar and Thailand, with support from Chinese embassies in Myanmar and Thailand, have held multiple rounds of consultations with the diplomatic, immigration, military, and police departments of both countries, continuously promoting concentrated clearance operations and carrying out 10 consecutive joint repatriation actions, 'forming a powerful deterrent' against criminals.
