A fire broke out on the night of the 9th at Bangkok's famous Chatuchak Weekend Market, with the blaze extinguished in about half an hour and multiple shops damaged.

The incident occurred at around 10:42 p.m. local time (11:42 p.m. Malaysia time), with the fire starting near Gate 1.

According to local media reports, the fire was extinguished at 11:15 p.m. Many of the affected shops were clothing stores.

Preliminary inspection reports indicate that the fire affected an area of about 240 square meters, with a total of 48 shops damaged. Since the fire occurred after the market had closed for the day, no casualties were reported.

Fire and rescue department officials said initial suspicion is that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit, but the exact cause will be determined after a detailed investigation.
