Iran Denies Its Intelligence Department Contacted CIA to Discuss Ending Conflict

Published at Mar 05, 2026 03:14 pm
Iran's Tasnim News Agency reported on the 4th, citing a well-informed source in Iran's Ministry of Intelligence, that the New York Times' report about Iranian intelligence officials being willing to negotiate with the US Central Intelligence Agency to end the war is completely false and is a psychological warfare tactic during wartime.

The source stated that Iran is continuing to strike enemies without hesitation, and the publication of this news shows that the United States is feeling increasingly powerless in the military domain.

The New York Times earlier on the 4th, citing informed officials, reported that a day after the US and Israel launched military strikes against Iran, operatives from Iran's Ministry of Intelligence contacted the US Central Intelligence Agency through a third country's intelligence agency, proposing conditions to discuss ending the conflict. However, US officials are, at least in the short term, skeptical about whether the Trump administration or Iran are truly ready to end the conflict.

Prepared for Prolonged Conflict

Tasnim News Agency also reported on the 5th that an Iranian official stated that Iran has neither sent any message to the United States, nor would it respond to any message from the US.

The official said that the Iranian armed forces are prepared for a prolonged war.

The US news website Axios reported on the 4th, citing information from a US official, that Iran had recently conveyed a message to the US, but the US side did not respond.
