The Cooperative Development Department (UPK) recently organized a forum titled “The Importance of Allocating Zakat on Cooperative Commercial Assets”. Approximately 70 board members, management representatives, and general members from cooperatives across the nation attended the event.
The forum is part of UPK’s initiative series aimed at fostering a balanced understanding among cooperatives of religious obligations and business practices, focusing on the collection and distribution of zakat on cooperative commercial assets.
Expert speakers provided insights into zakat policies related to cooperative properties, inheritance and nominee mechanisms, and methods to ensure cooperative operations comply with religious principles while enhancing financial transparency and efficiency.
During the interactive discussion session, participants actively asked questions, reflecting a high level of interest and engagement with the integration of religious and business topics. The forum concluded successfully with a lively exchange and expressions of gratitude from the speakers and attendees.
UPK emphasized that such programs not only strengthen cooperative members’ understanding of the Islamic economic system but also promote sustainable and compliant development of cooperatives. The department plans to host more forums in the future to encourage knowledge sharing and foster the spirit of cooperation.
