Hun Sen Accuses Thailand of Launching Attacks, Cambodia Sets Retaliation Red Line

Published at Dec 08, 2025 03:51 pm
Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen stated on the 8th that the Cambodian side has already set a red line for retaliation after the Thai military launched attacks against Cambodia.

However, he did not specify exactly what this red line entailed.

Hun Sen posted on social media: "All frontline troops must remain patient, because the aggressors have, since yesterday (the 7th), including last night and this morning, continued firing at us using various weapons."
Tensions flare up again at the Thai-Cambodian border, with local Cambodian residents beginning to flee.
He pointed out that the Thai attacks are intended to force the Cambodian military to retaliate, thereby undermining the ceasefire agreement and the peace joint statement between Cambodia and Thailand.

He said that the red line for retaliation has already been established, and suggested that commanders at all levels emphasize this to their soldiers.

Hun Sen stated that he has cancelled other duties in order to jointly command the military with Prime Minister Hun Manet to counter the invasion.
