In a post on social media, Trump praised Sanae Takaichi's decision to hold a general election, emphasizing that she is a “highly respected and popular leader.”
Trump referred to his administration’s philosophy of “peace through strength” and expressed anticipation that Sanae Takaichi would “achieve great success” by advancing conservative policies.
He said he felt “proud” to have supported Sanae Takaichi.
On the 5th, before ballots were counted for Japan’s House of Representatives, Trump declared his “full support” for Sanae Takaichi. He is considering holding talks with Sanae Takaichi at the White House on March 19.
Bessent Congratulates Sanae Takaichi on Major Victory
U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent on the 8th praised Sanae Takaichi for her “major victory” in the election and declared that a strong Japan would make the U.S. “even stronger” in Asia.
On Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” program, he told host Bartiromo: “The Prime Minister called the election early... and she truly achieved a huge victory today.”
He stated: “President Trump publicly supported her last week. She is a great ally and has a close relationship with the President. With Japan strong, America is strong in Asia as well.”
