Guangdong Province in China has been hit by continuous heavy rainfall. On the 6th, a landslide occurred in Baiyun District, Guangzhou, causing houses to collapse and burying multiple people. According to the Guangzhou Emergency Management Bureau, 14 people were found to be trapped; so far, 7 have been rescued, while another 7 remain trapped and search and rescue efforts are ongoing.
CCTV reported that following several days of intense rainfall, a landslide struck, causing several self-built houses belonging to villagers to collapse and shift.
The Guangzhou Emergency Management Bureau received reports from residents on Wednesday regarding a landslide near Yiyayuan, Dayuan Subdistrict, Baiyun District. Emergency, fire, police, and housing authorities promptly arrived at the scene to carry out rescue operations. Those rescued so far are not in life-threatening condition, and rescuers continue to check for potentially missing individuals.
After the incident, the provincial, municipal, and district authorities emphasized making every effort in rescue and relief, treatment of the injured, aftermath management, and risk assessment, as well as preventing secondary disasters to ensure the safety of rescue operations. Disaster handling and aftermath work are underway, and all nearby residents have been evacuated.
