Government spokesperson and Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi stated that 45 volunteers from Northern Malaysia, Johor, Perak, and Selangor, after completing their five-day relief mission in Hat Yai, returned home safely on Thursday (27th).

However, he noted that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar remains concerned about Malaysians still stranded in Hat Yai.

Fahmi pointed out that, according to the latest briefing from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 38 Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) students and staff affected by the southern Thailand floods have been successfully relocated to a safe area through coordination between the Malaysian and Thai authorities.

Regarding Malaysians in the southern Thailand disaster area who have yet to return home, Fahmi stated that both Malaysia and Thailand are actively coordinating to ensure everyone can return home safely.

He said Prime Minister Anwar also thanked Thai Prime Minister Anutin for the assistance provided to help Malaysians stranded in Hat Yai.
