After Iran warned that “American aggressors and their allies have no right to pass” through the Strait of Hormuz, three cargo ships were attacked in succession on the 11th, with a Thai vessel suffering severe damage.

Precious Shipping, a Thai shipping company, stated in a release that its Thai-flagged bulk carrier ‘MAYARINANARI’ was struck by “two unidentified projectiles” while passing through the Strait of Hormuz on the 11th, igniting a fire and causing damage to the engine room.

The statement said: “According to reports, three crew members are missing and are believed to still be trapped in the ship’s engine room. The company is cooperating with relevant parties to rescue the missing crew members.”

The statement added that the remaining 20 crew members had safely evacuated and were ashore in Oman.

Besides Thailand’s ‘MAYARINANARI’, according to two maritime security firms, earlier on the 11th, the Japan-flagged container vessel ‘ONE Majesty’ was hit by an unidentified projectile about 25 nautical miles northwest of Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, suffering minor damage.

The owner, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), and operator, Ocean Network Express (ONE), reported that the vessel was at anchor when the attack occurred, sustaining minor damage above the waterline. All crew members are safe, and the ship can still sail normally.

Meanwhile, the Marshall Islands-flagged cargo ship ‘Star Gwyneth’ was struck by an unidentified projectile about 50 miles northwest of Dubai on the 11th. The vessel was at anchor when its cargo hold area was hit. Fortunately, there were no crew injuries, the ship is not listing, and the damage is minor.

This brings the total number of ships attacked in the Strait of Hormuz and adjacent waters since the Iran conflict began to at least 14.
