12 Malaysians went to nightclubs in Hat Yai, Thailand seeking fun, but were caught in a surprise police raid and were found to be using drugs, resulting in their immediate arrest.
According to Malaysia’s Berita Harian quoting local police sources, the arrested Malaysians are between 20 and 30 years old. Their urine tests returned positive results for methamphetamine and cannabis.
It is understood that after being arrested, the 12 Malaysian suspects have been remanded for 24 days to assist investigations and are not eligible for bail during this period. Once investigations are complete, they will be charged in accordance with local laws.
Sources say local police will charge them in court under Sections 104, 162, 113, or 114 of Thailand’s Narcotics Act. If convicted, they could face imprisonment of up to one year, a fine of 2,480 ringgit, or both penalties.
