According to reports from US media on the 13th, US President Trump boasted during the G7 leaders’ video conference on the 11th that Iran was about to surrender. In reality, however, there is no indication that the Iranian regime is about to surrender or collapse.
The US news website Axios, citing sources, said that Trump stated during the G7 leaders’ video conference that Iran was about to surrender, but there was no one left in Iran who could announce a surrender.
The report points out that privately, just as in public, Trump is full of confidence regarding the outcome of the conflict. However, his assessment contradicts the actual situation, which is far more complex.
On the 13th, Trump again claimed on social media that the US is thoroughly destroying Iran militarily, economically, and in other ways.
In his first statement after taking office on the 12th, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba said that Iran will never give up on revenge—not only to avenge the slain supreme spiritual leader, but also every Iranian who has been killed. Iran will continue to strike at military bases in the region used to attack Iran, while also continuing to use the tactic of blockading the Strait of Hormuz.
