(Kuching, 20th) The 'Madani Malaysia Mobile Rahmah Sale' event, actively arranged and advocated by the DAP Stampin Parliamentary Service Centre, was held enthusiastically yesterday at the Batu Kawah basketball court. The event attracted large crowds of local and nearby community residents eager to grab bargains, with a continuous stream of people and enthusiastic response.
This sales event offered as many as 46 daily essential items at promotional prices lower than the market rate, with discounts ranging from 15% to 30%, enabling residents to purchase needed items at more affordable prices. For example, Grade B eggs (30 pieces), which usually cost RM18, were sold for just RM13—a RM5 discount; a 10kg bag of white rice was reduced from RM28.50 to RM26; 900g Milo was discounted from RM21 to RM15, saving RM6; and fresh chicken per kilogram was lowered from RM11.50 to RM8, a RM3.50 saving. Other household staples such as garlic, potatoes, cooking oil, flour, instant noodles, white sugar, detergents, and canned foods also enjoyed various discounts.
Mr. Kong Fung Nian, special assistant to DAP Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen, was delighted to see many residents coming early to queue for shopping, with quite a few inviting friends and neighbours, shopping together and sharing promotion news, demonstrating strong community mutual support.
He said many shoppers gave feedback that this mobile sale provided them with great convenience. They could walk over to buy daily goods without driving far from their neighborhoods. Most importantly, they saved significantly, allowing them to "buy more and save more." They remarked that amid the current persistent surge in prices, this promotion genuinely provided practical help.
Notably, recipients of the recently distributed Phase 4 "Rahmah Cash Assistance" (STR) and "Basic Living Assistance" (SARA) could also directly use their aid at the event to purchase promotional items, with no need to go to large supermarkets—both convenient and worthwhile.
This event is one of the beneficiary initiatives under the federal government’s "Madani Malaysia Mobile Rahmah Sale" program, promoted through the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, aiming to ease price pressures via subsidies, and help people cope with the rising cost of living. United Enterprise was the main supplier for this event, ensuring a comprehensive supply and price transparency.
Kong Fung Nian stated that Chong Chieng Jen's service centre will continue working with relevant departments and businesses to organize similar sales at various locations within the Stampin constituency, to help more residents reduce their household financial burden.
He also welcomed residents to provide feedback and suggestions, so that future events can be arranged more precisely, truly “bringing benefit policies right to people's doorsteps.”
