The two-day G7 Summit concluded on the 17th in the village of Kananaskis, approximately 100 kilometers from Calgary, Canada. The participating leaders called for resolving the conflict between Israel and Iran to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East region.

Canadian Prime Minister Carney admitted at the closing press conference that there were differences of opinion among G7 leaders on many issues. However, he stated that they worked hard to find common solutions to some of these issues.

The summit issued a series of statements addressing issues including the Middle East, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, critical minerals, and forest fires. On the evening of the 16th, the summit released a statement on the latest developments in the Israel-Iran conflict, calling for its resolution and urging the de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East, including Gaza. It also emphasized the G7's coordinated efforts to maintain stability in energy markets.

No Statement Issued on Ukraine

Due to opposition from U.S. President Trump, the G7 Summit could not, as usual, issue a “strong” condemnation of Russia on the Ukraine issue.

Reportedly, the other six G7 members reached an agreement on strong language condemning Russia, but a joint statement requires U.S. approval.

Nonetheless, Canadian Prime Minister Carney welcomed Zelensky's attendance and announced military aid worth 2 billion Canadian dollars (approximately 62.19 billion Malaysian ringgit) to Ukraine, including drones and helicopters.

In addition to holding multiple bilateral meetings, G7 leaders held a plenary session on the 16th to discuss global economic prospects and met with leaders of invited countries and international organizations on the 17th to discuss energy security issues.
